World Creativity and Innovation Day 2025
April 21 each year has been designated by the United Nations as the World Creativity and Innovation Day, with the aim of raising awareness about the role of creativity and innovation in socio-economic development, building a sustainable society, and fostering comprehensive human development.
Response from the Ministry of Science and Technology
In response to this meaningful event, the Ministry of Science and Technology has issued Decision No. 536/QD-BKHCN approving the Plan to organize activities in response to the World Creativity and Innovation Day 2025. At the same time, the Ministry has issued an official dispatch requesting ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government bodies, People’s Committees of provinces and centrally run cities, central mass organizations, and associations to actively launch and guide the organization of relevant activities.
Purpose and Orientation
According to a representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the purpose of the activities is to widely disseminate the spirit of innovation throughout the community and society at large; to foster a culture of innovation across all sectors; and to raise awareness of the role of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in sustainable socio-economic development and comprehensive human advancement.
Strategic Role of Innovation
These activities also aim to promote the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation—enabling science and technology to become a driving force of the economy, innovation to become a primary engine of growth, and digital transformation to serve as a strategic tool for enhancing national innovation capacity.
At the same time, the initiative seeks to develop the national innovation system by strengthening connections among key stakeholders with digital platforms playing a central role in connecting technology supply and demand, experts, and ideas.
Implementation Timeline and Key Areas
The activities are scheduled to take place from April 15 to April 26, 2025, focusing on four main content areas:
- Communicating and disseminating the objectives and significance of the World Creativity and Innovation Day, with creative outreach to promote the spirit of innovation.
- Raising public awareness of the Party and State’s breakthrough guidelines and policies on science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. This includes concretizing the spirit of “contract 10” in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW; introducing new management approaches such as goal-oriented management, autonomy and responsibility delegation, risk acceptance, and efficiency-based evaluation; and identifying strategic directions for breakthroughs in the new era.
- Organizing and launching practical and meaningful initiatives to implement innovation in daily work, organizational tasks, production, business, and services; thereby enhancing productivity, labor efficiency, and socio-economic development.
- Fostering a culture of innovation and developing creative spaces across various sectors, closely linked to the digital transformation process.

Through activities commemorating the World Creativity and Innovation Day 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology aims to strongly promote the spirit of innovation, encourage the active participation of all sectors in society, and contribute to sustainable development and the enhancement of national competitiveness in the context of a comprehensive digital transformation.
