Alternō uses sand-based thermal storage for green industry and agriculture

Alternō Vietnam is a green technology startup operating in the renewable energy sector, best known for developing the world’s first sand-based thermal energy storage solution specifically designed for industrial and agricultural applications. This technology enables the storage of renewable energy in the form of heat at temperatures ranging from 300–600°C, helping businesses significantly cut fossil fuel use, lower energy costs, and reduce carbon emissions.

Its two core systems – Alterno Standard and Alterno Pro – are engineered to provide stable high-temperature output, meeting the continuous production demands of sectors such as food processing, textiles, agricultural drying, and materials manufacturing. Alternō has successfully deployed its solution with major partners including PepsiCo and Mondelez, demonstrating both the feasibility and real-world efficiency of its model.

Despite its high-tech nature, the solution features a simple structure, long operational life span, low maintenance requirements, and strong scalability – making it especially well-suited for small and medium-sized factories. This is particularly relevant as Vietnam and Southeast Asia accelerate their transition toward clean energy.

At the P4G Summit Vietnam 2025, Alternō introduced a new approach to industrial energy transition through its sand-based thermal storage technology. With support from the National Startup Support Center (NSSC), the model attracted strong interest from development organizations and international enterprises thanks to its potential to fully replace traditional thermal systems with reliable renewable heat.

With wide application potential and a meaningful contribution toward net-zero emissions, the company is steadily establishing itself as one of Vietnam’s leading green technology solutions on the global clean energy transition map.
