BusMap is a smart transportation application developed by Lê Yên Thanh and a team of young Vietnamese engineers in 2013. The app aims to assist users in easily accessing bus information and services, improving the public transportation experience. Over time, BusMap has evolved into a comprehensive platform, offering additional features such as long-distance bus ticket booking, cashback shopping, and city information. These advancements contribute to smarter and more convenient bus journeys for users.
With increasing community support, BusMap quickly gained traction and reached over 2 million users by 2019. The application expanded its services to major cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai, strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia. This growth demonstrates BusMap’s effectiveness in enhancing urban mobility and providing valuable solutions for commuters.
In 2021, BusMap secured a $1.5 million investment from the Phenikaa Group and officially rebranded as Phenikaa MaaS. This strategic collaboration enabled the company to broaden its vision, focusing on core technology development and offering intelligent transportation solutions for businesses and organizations. The transition marked a significant milestone in BusMap’s journey toward becoming a leading smart mobility provider in Vietnam.
Throughout its development, BusMap has achieved remarkable accomplishments. These include recognition as one of the Top 10 startups in the TECHFEST Vietnam’s National Innovation Technopreneur Contest 2020, Champion of the ITU Award 2020 by the International Telecommunication Union, Champion of AI Hack 2020, Top 10 in the Qualcomm Innovation Challenge 2020, and Top 13 in the SK Startup Fellowship Batch #2 in 2021.
With these outstanding achievements and strong backing from the Phenikaa Group, Phenikaa MaaS continues to innovate in smart transportation solutions.
