Vietfiber is a pioneering Vietnamese enterprise in developing mechanical technology to produce pineapple fiber without using water or chemicals. This environmentally friendly method effectively addresses pollution caused by burning pineapple leaves and the overuse of water resources in traditional fiber production.
With over 52,000 hectares of pineapple leaves discarded annually, Vietfiber aims to fully utilize this resource to produce 63,000 tons of pineapple fiber per year, with the goal of completely replacing imported cotton in the textile industry—one of the highest-emission sectors in Vietnam.
A key highlight of the model is its fully automated production process, from leaf cutting and fiber extraction to spinning, which enhances fiber quality and reduces production costs. As a result, Vietfiber not only minimizes environmental impact but also delivers a stable, high-quality input for sustainable fashion industries both domestically and internationally.
At the P4G Summit Vietnam 2025, Vietfiber showcased its water- and chemical-free pineapple fiber production technology in the dedicated startup exhibition area, with support from the National Startup Support Center (NSSC). The solution attracted significant interest from development organizations and global textile partners for its potential to reduce emissions, replace imported cotton, and advance sustainable fashion practices.
This is an effective model that promotes green manufacturing while enhancing the economic value of Vietnamese agricultural by-products—contributing practically to greenhouse gas reduction and the sustainable development of the textile industry.
