In the context of global integration and increasing pressure for sustainable development, Vietnam’s logistics and supply chain industry faces an urgent need for transformation. Beyond improving operational efficiency and reducing costs, modernizing logistics is becoming a critical driver in the green transition—cutting greenhouse gas emissions, saving energy, and using resources more effectively. Amidst this evolving landscape, a number of tech startups have emerged as pioneers, applying digital solutions, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and data-driven management to reshape this foundational industry.
Abivin is one of the most prominent startups in smart logistics. Its platform, Abivin vRoute, enables optimization of delivery routes, thereby reducing distances traveled, transportation time, and fuel consumption. The result is a direct reduction in carbon emissions—one of the key indicators in Vietnam’s national roadmap for emission reduction. After winning First Prize at the TECHFEST Vietnam National Innovative Technopreneur Contest in 2018, Abivin achieved global recognition by clinching the top award at the 2019 Startup World Cup in the U.S. Today, the company is scaling its solution across Southeast Asia, where optimizing logistics and reducing emissions have become central to national sustainable development strategies. Abivin has formed partnerships with major enterprises in the distribution and FMCG sectors, enabling the deployment of vRoute in large-scale supply networks. The integration of AI into operations helps these partners cut fuel costs, shorten delivery times, and gradually build greener, more agile, and more transparent supply chains.
Crowned the Champion of TECHFEST Vietnam 2021, Otrafy offers a blockchain-based platform for tracking and verifying product quality data across the global food supply chain. The platform empowers companies to trace origins, ensure food safety, and minimize waste by enhancing data transparency. From a sustainability perspective, Otrafy supports optimal use of raw materials, reduces product loss, and improves distribution efficiency—key drivers of the green transition in the food supply sector.
The solutions developed by Abivin, Otrafy, and HUBTECH.ASIA not only demonstrate how digital technology can be applied to traditional industries, but also underscore the indispensable role of startups in building a green logistics ecosystem—where operational efficiency goes hand in hand with sustainable development goals. Reducing emissions from operations, saving energy, and optimizing supply chains all contribute to increased sustainable value for businesses, while also supporting Vietnam’s progress toward its international climate commitments.
TECHFEST Vietnam has served as a valuable platform that spotlighted the participation of logistics startups such as Abivin and Otrafy. Through competition and engagement at the event, these startups gained access to the innovation ecosystem, enhanced their product development capacity, and expanded their networks of experts and strategic partners. These opportunities laid the groundwork for scaling their operations and targeting global markets—demonstrating the emergence of a new generation of pioneering enterprises in foundational industries, actively contributing to Vietnam’s sustainable development agenda.
The Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit was established in 2017 based on an initiative by the Government of Denmark, evolving from its predecessor—the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF). To date, the P4G platform comprises 12 core member countries: Denmark, Chile, Mexico, Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and South Africa. In addition, it enjoys participation from over 90 countries, international organizations, and private sector entities. Vietnam is one of the seven founding members, a formal partner of P4G, and will proudly host the 4th P4G Summit in 2025. Recognized as a leading global platform for advancing public–private partnerships, P4G connects governments, businesses, and civil society organizations to jointly propose breakthrough solutions for green growth. These efforts contribute meaningfully to the realization of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). P4G support to its partner countries primarily takes the form of public–private cooperation, offering both financial and technical assistance to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises implementing climate action initiatives. As part of the P4G Summit 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) will host the Policy Dialogue Forum on Promoting Investment and Business Growth for Startups in Green Transition and Sustainable Development. The event, coordinated by the National Startup Support Center, will bring together leading experts, policymakers, businesses, investment funds and startups from Vietnam and around the world to share experiences, propose solutions for fostering a sustainable startup ecosystem and explore collaboration opportunities. |
