In the context of booming e-commerce, digital platforms have opened unprecedented opportunities for a new generation of entrepreneurs. Smartphones have now become “mobile offices,” “content production studios,” and “online shops” for millions of individuals doing business. The rise of business models based on social media, especially TikTok Shop, has created a new class of entrepreneurs: dynamic, creative, and constantly innovating.
However, opportunities always come with challenges. The rapid development of e-commerce also demands high adaptability, technological knowledge, content thinking, and especially business ethics in a volatile digital environment.
Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tuấn – Director of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (eComDX) emphasized: “To achieve sustainable growth in e-commerce, besides creativity, young people must pay particular attention to ethics and legal compliance.”
According to Mr. Tuấn, business ethics is not just about avoiding violations, but about being transparent and honest with customers — from product information, pricing, return policies to service quality. Once trust is lost, even the most promising brand can collapse.
Alongside ethics is the need for legal compliance, a foundational factor in building a fair and transparent e-commerce environment. It is especially important to pay attention to regulations on personal data protection, intellectual property, online advertising, and fair competition — matters that are often underestimated but play a decisive role in maintaining brand reputation and long-term growth potential.
Acts such as selling counterfeit goods, online fraud, or unfair competition may yield short-term benefits but will seriously harm the market and the country’s image.
The eComDX representative called on the new generation of entrepreneurs to become pioneers in building a strong, professional, and humane Vietnamese e-commerce community. Let “millions of views” be more than just a metric — let them represent real value, making practical contributions to the country’s socio-economic development.
