Igniting the Startup Flame from University Lecture Halls

On the morning of May 17, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, the seminar titled “Implementing Innovative Startup Funds in Universities and Colleges” attracted the participation of representatives from startup support organizations, investors, experts, and a large number of students and young people passionate about entrepreneurship. The event served as a platform for experience-sharing, discussion of effective models, and proposals for solutions to foster an entrepreneurial ecosystem within educational institutions.

Taking inspiration from successful international models such as Osage University Partners (USA) and NUS Enterprise (Singapore), Vietnam is gradually building an academic-based startup ecosystem. This approach aims to transform academic knowledge into practical, market-driven products that create both economic and social value.

The seminar focused on proposing models for establishing startup support funds within universities, with the goal of nurturing innovation among students and faculty. These models not only encourage the development of startup ideas but also provide essential resources such as financial support, expert mentorship, incubation spaces, and access to domestic and international business networks and investment funds.

The event marked an inspiring first step—opening the door for students and faculty to confidently begin their entrepreneurial journey. Today, they are no longer alone with their ideas; a robust and supportive startup ecosystem is ready to accompany them every step of the way.
