VIETNAM – INDONESIA PROMOTE COOPERATION IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION AND DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

On March 10, 2025, during General Secretary To Lam’s state visit to Indonesia, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung and Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, signed and exchanged a Letter of Intent for cooperation in the field of science and technology, in the presence of General Secretary To Lam and President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. This event marks a significant advancement in the bilateral relations between the two countries.

With a strategic vision, both countries identify science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the main drivers for breakthrough development and achieving high growth in the coming period. The signing of the Letter of Intent is an important milestone, opening a new chapter in scientific and technological cooperation, contributing to the sustainable development of both nations in the near future. Accordingly, the two sides will strengthen cooperation in specialized fields, expand collaboration in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, aiming to build a digital partnership and a digital economy.

Prior to this, the two ministers held a working session to discuss specific cooperation contents and possibilities between both sides. Vietnam and Indonesia have many similarities in their developmental orientations, aiming to surpass the middle-income trap and become high-income developed countries by 2045.

In addition, the two ministers also exchanged views on each country’s major orientations and policies for encouraging investment and mobilizing resources for the development of science and technology, strongly promoting research and development programs and projects, and enhancing technology applications in economic sectors.

The two sides discussed and agreed to prioritize the implementation of cooperation programs while also enhancing the connectivity of research institutes, universities, and startup and innovation centers of both countries.
