Through TechFest Vietnam 2025, Hanoi has created an open, public space in the heart of the capital, serving as a platform for exchange, learning, and connection in the field of technology. The event helps strengthen the “triple-helix” linkage among the State, academic institutions, and enterprises.
With four exhibition and experience zones arranged around Hoan Kiem Lake, TechFest Vietnam 2025 attracted large numbers of local residents and visitors eager to explore innovative technology products. From robots, electric vehicles, and 5G Wi-Fi stations to agricultural products applying science and technology, the displays drew strong public interest.
This year’s event was organized in an open-access format, without fences or entrance tickets, in order to maximize convenience for public participation. Mr. Le Quang Ngoc, a resident of Cua Nam Ward, noted that locating exhibition booths along the pedestrian streets and near residential areas made the event more accessible compared to conventional indoor exhibitions. Although not a technology expert himself, Mr. Ngoc shared that when science and technology events are designed in a practical and approachable manner, they can bring the spirit of innovation closer to the community, making it easier for people to understand and more willing to embrace change.
Strengthening the “Triple-Helix” Linkage
Beyond public enthusiasm, participating schools and businesses were equally excited by the opportunity to introduce their research projects and technological products to the wider community. At the exhibition booth of FPT Tay Hanoi High School, Ms. Duong Thi Lua, a teacher at the school, said that her institution showcased a range of technology products developed by students. Among them was an artificial intelligence–based application system designed to support fire prevention and firefighting. The system is capable of identifying fire outbreak locations, issuing alerts to firefighting forces, locating trapped individuals, and assisting residents in finding evacuation routes during emergencies.
Nearby, Mr. Le Dinh Xoan, Business Development Manager at Sotatek Vietnam Technology Joint Stock Company, enthusiastically introduced comprehensive digital transformation solutions. He expressed his hope that TechFest would continue to serve as a dynamic platform connecting businesses, researchers, government agencies, and the public, thereby creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and expanded business cooperation.
According to the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, the capital city plays a bridging role between startups, universities, scientists, and investment funds through a series of workshops, seminars, technology demonstrations, and investment matchmaking activities held within the framework of TechFest. The city also places strong emphasis on promoting the “triple-helix” linkage model, particularly in commercializing patents that have yet to be applied in practice. Incubation programs will be designed to connect scientists who own technological solutions with entrepreneurs who possess market-oriented thinking, aiming to develop innovative products with real commercial potential.
