STROOM is a pioneering company working alongside the Greater Stellenbosch Trust (GST) to drive a sustainable electric bicycle (e-bike) delivery model in South Africa. This initiative focuses on renting out e-bikes, training local entrepreneurs, and integrating e-bikes into urban logistics infrastructure. With over 35,000 km of practical testing and four custom-developed e-bike models suited to local conditions, STROOM offers an efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly delivery solution.
The pilot program, funded by the Bavarian government, has already led to the establishment of three black-owned delivery businesses, creating jobs and reducing 3.8 tons of CO₂ emissions. This initiative is a practical, easy-to-deploy solution with the potential to create positive change in the urban delivery sector. By combining sustainability with local empowerment, STROOM is setting a new standard for urban logistics in South Africa.
At the P4G Vietnam Summit 2025, STROOM had the opportunity to showcase its sustainable electric bike delivery model and garnered significant interest from international organizations and investors in the region. The support from the National Startup Support Center (NSSC) facilitated STROOM’s connection with strategic partners, paving the way for the company to continue developing and expanding its sustainable delivery model in South Africa and other countries.
This collaboration highlights the transformative power of clean energy solutions in the logistics industry, showing how practical and scalable models can significantly impact both the environment and local economies.
